A Few Aids for the Serious Gardener We get many calls about how to grow this plant, or what tree is best for the Southwest corner of a house that has little shade, or what the name of that pretty tree is, or what ground cover works best in the shade, or what plants flower in the winter ...... so we have written some pamphlets to help a little : * Plant list for the butterfly garden * Deep South Shade Tolerant Trees, Shrubs, Ground Covers, Perennials, Bulbs, Annuals & Vines * Growing Southern Magnolia ( Magnolia grandiflora ) from seed * Trees and Shrubs for the Sand Hills area * Attracting Ruby - throated Hummingbirds with flowers * Fruits, Berries and Nuts for Northwest Florida * Winter Garden Vegetables for Northwest Florida * Drought Tolerant Trees, Shrubs, Groundcovers and Vines for Northwest Florida * Trees with Fall color for Northwest Florida * Winter Flowering Plants for Northwest Florida * Vines for fence covers in USDA Zones 7 and 8 All pamphlets are $1.00 including postage.
Another problem gardeners have is to maintain a permanent marker on the many plants they add year by year. We tried using a stylus or ball-point pen on soft metal, such as cooper, but these had to be tied to the plant and as the plant grew, the marker was lost. We also tried permanent ink pens, but they faded in two or three years, We also tried permanent pencils on plastic tags, but the plastic tags got brittle and broke. So now we offer the best solution we have found .... stainless steel marker units that stick into the ground, They don't get brittle, they don't get lost and they don't fade. To complete the permanent marker, we offer pens that write permanent high gloss paint enamel. The combination works well and lasts many, many years. ** Stainless Steel Markers .... $2.00 each or 10 for $17.50 Approximately 7" x 3.5" , with enough room for four information lines and a date.
** Enamel Paint Pens .... $3.25 each Useable for at least 50 - 60 markers.
